Armed with an obsessive love of color-coding and all things related to organization, I’m on a mission to help you maximize efficiency in your business and life so you can spend time on what matters most to you.
Equally right and left-brained, I’m that unique business owner who can think like a creative, but act like an administrator. This blog is where you’ll see me bring that dual-brained magic to life, taking the left-brain side of life and breaking it down for your right-brained self.
By this point it probably goes without saying that I pretty much swear by my Simplified Planner. It’s the linchpin to my analog systems and things would not end well if I ever lost it.
One of the reasons I love the Simplified Planner as much as I do is right in the name — it’s simple!
So many planners nowadays have all sorts of bells and whistles that, in my opinion, are not necessary for effectively planning, organizing, and keeping track of all the things happening in your life and business.
But even though I love the simplicity of the Simplified Planner, I don’t use it all by its lonesome. Like many people, I have a few favorite accessories that take my use of the Simplified Planner to the next level and help keep me on my organizational A Game.

As a visual person, it should come as no surprise that I’m a major fan of color coding. I love being able to look at a task or event on my calendar and know exactly what it’s for based on the color alone, before I even read the details of what’s going on.
Because I love for things to be as coordinated as possible, I love using the color coding dots from the Simplified shop.
These dots are available in the iconic Happy Stripe colors and help make color coding nice and simple!
As with all color coding, I designate one color for each of the different areas in my life and business and use the dots to mark off specific events related to those different areas of my life!
I use the dots on the daily spread of my Simplified Planner, sticking a dot on the daily log to let me know whether it’s an event related to a client, church, travel, personal, or something else.
Similar to the color coding dots, I also love to use the color coding flags from the Simplified Shop as well!
These Happy Stripe flags take up a bit more real estate on the page than the dots do, which makes them great for marking off longer periods of time on the daily view or bringing attention to specific events to be aware of on the weekly or monthly view.
I use the flags on the daily view to mark off periods of time longer than two hours or to mark off an all-day event I need to be aware of, like a retreat, travel, or something like that.
In the monthly view, I use them to bring awareness to days with something major happening like the launch of a product or service, a day trip, or a wedding.
Continuing the Happy Stripe color coding love, I’m also a major fan of using washi tape to color code things that really need to stand out.
I primarily use the Happy Stripe washi tape from Simplified on the monthly view of my planner to mark off events more than a few days long, like a retreat or vacation.
One of the best things about using washi tape for something like this is you don’t use up tons of individual stickers super fast and, since washi tape is repositionable, you can mark off dates tentatively in your planner and move them around or remove them completely if plans change!
I love to celebrate the people in my life and one of the easiest ways to do that is making them feel special on their birthdays.
To make the birthdays of everyone I love stand out, my go to is the birthday bar stickers from FayeCreates on Etsy.
I’ve been using these little beauties to mark off birthdays on the monthly view ever since I joined the Simplified Planner family and they do not disappoint!
Faye makes them specific to the dimensions of the Simplified Planner and makes them in the Happy Stripe colors too! They’re not an exact match, but they are pretty darn close!
My final favorite planner accessory is the icon stickers from Faye’s Etsy shop.
These round stickers are available in a ton of different options, so you can use them for bringing attention to all sorts of things!
Like the birthday bar stickers, they’re available in Happy Stripe colors, but you can also get them in other colors or even in gold glitter if you want!
You could use them like I do, primarily in the notes section, or in place of certain color coding dots in the daily view to highlight events like a doctor appointments or date night. The possibilities are pretty much endless!
